The 10th Independent Games Festival is open for submissions. Deadline for the main competition is October 1st. Finalists will be announced on December 3rd.
Hm… should we enter The Path? We’ll only have a demo by then. And it’s not exactly a game-game, as they tend to like at the IGF. We failed gloriously last year with The Endless Forest. Perhaps we’re too indy for the indies…

Bah. You shouldn’t need an award to push forward work on The Path. We’re already at the edge of our seats.
Anyhow, I think it’s the avant garde approach to what constitutes a game that sets you at odds with them. I’m sure that won’t discourage you. Art itself wouldn’t have progressed if everyone always conformed to what the critics were accustomed to.
Thank you for the encouraging words.
But is this what the IGF wants? From my conversations with Simon Carless I have learned that there is an interest in more experimental and artistic games. And the name itself reminds me of “independent film” which implies “artistic” in my book. It feels like the IGF should be a place where the avantagarde can be showcased.
Enter it, and if they don’t like it, fuck ’em.
I second Patrick.
Unless it’s gonna cost you – no point wasting all your money.
I’m reminded of a lyric from the tongue planted firmly in the cheek of MC Frontalot (um… his, not someone else’s), “If I were on an indie label, you could call me mainstream. I’m so indie.”
Enter!
