| I dont know if this is in the right forum, but I was wondering if Michael and Auriea (sorry if thats misspeelt) got training or did degree courses in game development or anything, or it is possible for a regular joe to just buy a software package and start creating games? |

The "Making" forum is for dedicated to this subject. 
We were trained a sculptor and a graphic designer. Anything computer-related we taught ourselves. In most cases, thanks to the internet.
And yes, anyone can do the same!
There's even free programs for creating games now. Like Unity or the Unreal kit.
Of course it takes a while to learn all this technology and get good at it, and then it takes a lot of time to actually make a game (or do as we did: combine learning and making!  ). But it's well worth it. There's so much you can do with this medium that has never been done before. It's a good time for the adventurous. |

| Thats fantastic! Im starting college soon and expect to have that bit more spare time on my hands, so Id love to start learning and creating. It really is an untapped medium. Apart from Thatgamecompany and Tale of Tales, and maybe Team Ico, Im not aware of any designers who really use it to its full artistic potential... |
