For me, it was almost as if it had been fate. I was on my computer one day, and out of nowhere I randomly thought, "Hey, I think Steam has a section for indie games. I should go check those out."
It was just two days after The Path had been released. I watched the trailer for it, and I was like, "Holy shit, I need to see what this is about." So I bought it right then, not even bothering to look up reviews. I didn't care if it was bad; it was too unique to pass up. And it ended up to be tied with Metroid Prime as my favorite game of all time. |

I'd been a member of The Endless Forest, so when I heard Tale of Tales was developing a new game, I was sold. There need to be more 'not-games' out there to enjoy!
One day I'd love to be able to walk down to the Art Gallery of Ontario and see interactive art like those produced by Tale of Tales. There needs to be more appreciation for alternative-media art. |

| I saw it mentioned in the Ice-Pick Lodge forums (creators of Pathologic and The Void) and had to check it out as it seemed interesting. I deliberately didn't back read any of the blogs on it as I didn't want to spoil the surprise, but the teaser videos piqued my interest a lot. And I'm glad they did. |

I could have one of the weirder answers here.
I actually found about The Path in Shoujo Beat, a monthly manga magazine. It had a section for video games that it feature, and The Path was in it. It was passed off as more of a dating sim or romance game from what I can remember, something about meeting some dashing wolves. I thought the visual part of it was stunning, since the article had some screenshots, and immediately I was intrigued. At the time I didn't have money, or the game wasn't released or something like that, but months later it popped into my head. I couldn't remember the title but I looked up horror versions of little red ridinghood and I almost immediately found it. I was delighted to know that it was only ten dollars, and I snatched it up. |

| I'd stumbled on The Endless Forest and, while it wasn't to my taste, I still followed the forums on other topics and the ToT blog because I found the views mentioned on art, games, and (randomly) spirituality interesting. Then they announced 144, and shortly after I joined the forums and have been rabidly on the tail of the company's every move ever since. |

I've read about "The Path" in a Polish newspaper (quite long before the Polish edition was released). I found the very concept intriguing and somehow remembered about it long enough to finally get the game.
It was quite different from what I expected but still I liked it a lot. |

| i learned about it through cheatplanet.com in a read about "the top ten scariest games you've never heard of" and i saw the path as.... #5? don't really remember. at first i was hesitant to play 'cause the trailer made the game look really freaky so i watched through my fingers and was brought to my knees from the suspense and was eventually brought to the tale of tales site ^_^ |

I found out about it from a brief preview article on Gamespot.com (or was it IGN? I can't remember). I've always had a fascination with certain grim fairy tales, and when they implied that it was not really a game but more of an interactive work of art I was hooked.
They only showed two screenshots in the article: one of grandmother's house in the rain, and another of Carmen sitting next to the Woodsman in front of the fire. They did not go into great detail about technical aspects or "gameplay," but I just knew that I was going to enjoy the hell out of it.
And I did. |

I wonder if I still have that article around... |

| My brother told me about a special on Steam AFTER it ended. At first I was depressed about Audio Surf, then he showed me a demo, we both freaked out, and I continued to spoil the rest on YouTube before buying it XD. Ah well, it ether cheers me up or wares me out. |

Well Steam was having this indie games bundle which had 5 games in it for $10(there was also a 10 game one), World of Goo, Blueberry Garden, The Path, Braid, and Everday Shooter--- yeah, best deal ever. At the time i bought it, i had never really heard of indie gaming, but i had heard of world of goo and blueberry garden so i figured i'd get it.
Well the first four games i mentioned are now my favourite games ever! So thank you steam. |

I first heard of it from an article on Kotaku, and bought it soon after. I'm very happy that I did. It's an amazing game, and I love it so much |

| I found out about it while watching random Youtube videos. There was a guy that had a walkthrough of it. After I watched it I just had to buy it. |
