The Endless Forest streaming client is an experimental application that allows you to get new beta versions, additions and changes to the game more quickly because it downloads all files from the server. Note that this application itself is experimental and that since it loads untested data, running the game through it may not be as reliable as running it through the standard screensaver client.
Use at your own risk!

The new version of the streaming client now only checks for new files if there actually are any on the server since last time you played. If not, it skips straight to the game, loading data from your cache. If you use the streaming client, please upgrade to this version because the old version is not 100% compatible anymore.

EDIT: DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW

Ha! I noticed the screensaver started really fast, and I wondered "where did my update screen go? I don't want to miss anything!"

The new version of the streaming client includes a fix for an issue with the sound system (thank you, Diego Cadenas).

There's a problem with this version of the client. The new sound system doesn't work. Confused
(so no one has heard the beautiful music Gerry De Mol made... Crying or Very sad )

The only thing music-related I heard tonight was the song from the Sound of Music, which I got a kick out of, by the way. Smile Too bad we couldn't hear the other music you're referring to...

I am getting this error:

QuestViewer.exe:

This application has failed to start because d3dx9_27.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. (It didn't.)

I will try to find the missing dll file on the internet and try again i guess

edit: OK i found the dll file on the internet and it had a virus in it which was deleted, but I guess now the streaming client is working. *shrug*

EDIT AGAIN:

Yay! The sound works! WOOOOO
But now my problem is that the game runs a lot slower than it did before at the same settings - went from about 12 fps at 800x600 to 6. If I turn nature detail way way down it is playable. But now I miss all the nature detail =(

Sorry about the virus.
We have a (hopefully virus-free) version of d3dx9_27.dll here.
This file is required by one system that we only use for the Abiogenesis performances, we're going to remove it after next week (and not include it in the screensaver release).

We though we had actually improved performance quite a bit. Embarassed
I think the game has now become heavier on the videocard than on the processor.

It's ok, my anti-virus caught it right away. Just as a warning to everyone, don't get it from dll-files.com .

Hmm.. yeah, I found it odd that a well-known site like that would have a virus in one of their downloads, it might have been something already existing on my system and that the antivirus only thought to catch when i put the .dll file into my /system directory.

I can't tell where tarzan is but he seems to be malfunctioning =p

Also if it is less processor-intensive but moreso on the videocard, that would explain it. My processor is fairly decent but my videocard is terrible.

I checked the file and my virus scanner (Quick Heal) says it's clean.

I've put Tarzan in bed now. Just one more tickle.
