We have released a minor update to The Endless Forest (version 3.21) that can connect to different servers dynamically. At the moment, we are running a backup server at IBBT in Belgium. Feel free to download the new client and join us there until the regular server is back online (at which point you can just keep using this new client as it will dynamically switch to the right server).

Out of curiousity, are there any issues with having to use this server instead of the other one?

The backup server is just a box in a datacenter that the IBBT research lab is so nice as to let us use. The actual server is hosted by a server hosting company that is being paid (by the Mudam museum) to do a proper job. The backup server is only intended as a work instrument.

I can tell the server just got switched.
A moment ago, before the switch, was much slower for me than it is now. After it disconnected, I restarted and noticed I connected to the server a lot faster. The pictos spread faster than normal, and the framerate is reaching 30 fps again. Even when there's almost no one around, or maybe just a few deer asleep in-game, I never reach that high of a framerate.

I find it hard to believe that the server would have such an influence on the client speed. I think this is mostly caused by the number of players. You shouldn't judge by what you see in the game, but by the number in the Options.

Well right now at 11:15pm PST it is running very slow... not even going past 6fps for me, plus it is really slowing my whole computer down as well...

I haven't been this low on the fps scale for some time now and there is only 1 other deer in the forest... so players has nothing to do with it right now, lol...

could be my isp being slow, but still...

Sorry, I hadn't noticed I posted in the wrong thread at the time. I'll make sure I post in the correct one next time.
