It was a great party! It's past 2 AM now. There's still plenty of you in the forest. But we're tired and going to bed. Hope you have fun without us!
Thank you all for attending. We had a peak of 19 simultaneous visitors and a constant stream of people coming and going. More than enough to add a whole new series of bug reports to our todo lists.
If you had any experiences, good or bad, that you'd like to share, please do so here.
Thanks again, and see you next time.
Michael & Auriea.
PS: we'll leave the party decorations till tomorrow morning... |

That was fun } .
All worked fine from here - there are 2 deer in this house and all we noticed was that the party decorations appeared at different times on our machines (one deer's Forest crashed and the party was there when he reloaded, the other deer's Forest remained empty but then the party appeared when he logged off and on again).
Oh, and I also spotted a double instance of one deer while I was there. It was quite amusing because you could see two deer with the same glyph performing moves in parallel like a kind of deer dance .
Really liking this and looking forward to seeing how it grows .

Yes, it was fun!
Strange how Do Re Mi starts sounding like house music after two hours...
The odd loading behaviour is caused by us being tinkerers rather than actual programmers. The game does indeed only load the extra geometries (not included in the client download) on startup. We should probably change that behaviour in a next version.
That was me! And me!
I was playing with myself on two computers simultaneously.
Nice to hear that you like it.
Especially from a person whose work we admire as well!
Thank you.
If all goes well, our next big update will be in February during the Artefact festival. For this we'll concentrate on live interventions (like the party decorations but more more more and in real-time!). |

No probs - it's some lovely work you're doing here. I've been interested in developing "non-game" forms of interactive entertainment myself for years, so I'm finding this work of yours particularly interesting and lovely .
Really nice to have a chill place like the Forest to go to and just be a deer every now and again between compiles . |

I'm jealous. With Quest3D we don't get to enjoy any leisure time. It's real-time all the time, always on, never any compiling. We had to quit smoking because of this.
Seriously, it's good to know that other people are interested in making non-game interactive entertainment. It would really be a shame to see this wonderful technology wasted on only games. There's many more things that can be done with it. |

It's really nice, I've been very much surprised yesterday when "all in sudden" I saw a
disco ball appearing (well .. I have a certain "story" about disco balls ) and that
warning about the stag party
I like this thing of the forest, I like especially the idea that "everyone is a deer" and you don't
know "who is who" .. everyone is just .. a deer .. and you can do "only" deer things .. it's really
poetic in its way.
I am very looking forward to see how this thing will evolve.
The only "negative" thing I can say about it is that now I have another "24h/24h" activity that
is "keep an eye on my deer in the forest" .. he has to stay alive there and do things.
So one eye is on the C compiler and every now and then the other eye is on the forest.
What can I say ? MooOOOoOOOO ! |

I haven't been around the forest lately (partly due to forgetting my login information ), but I came to the party. Sadly, it didn't work for me, I saw none of the decorations and there was only one sleeping deer with me, though it said there were 16 people or so connected.
Next time the sniffs are on me. If I manage to spot anyone, that is. |

Sorry, Mr. Cobra, this was one of the reasons why we wanted to have this party: to test the system. At some point during the party we have seen the problem that you describe occur. And after restarting the server a few times it did seem to be solved. But this is definitely something that we're trying to fix. Better next time, I hope. |
