That's good to hear!
Congratulations!
Now, for future reference of us and other users of this forum, could you tell us how exactly you updated Windows?
Do you use XP? Did you install a new Service Pack? Did you, perhaps, simply install DirectX 9.0c? |

Had to install the Service Pack 2 for XP.
I had that Direct X thing already. |

Interesting. Thanks.
The game runs fine here with only Service Pack 1. |

Last night and this morning (now) I've noticed some problems with my ability to hop. When I first started running the game last night I hopped just fine, but after playing for a while I noticed that though I click the hop button I don't see myself hop any more. I managed one or two hops this morning, but then could only see myself hopping when I clicked while running in a direction.
Is this normal? Perhaps I've tired him out? |

| Happened to me too for a while yesterday - I'm sure there's some high-tech explanation for it, but I just left and came back an hour or two later, and it was fixed. Not had the issue since then. |

Yes. There's a problem with the Hop interface. And as Mongoose pointed out, it does go away by itself (or immediately after a restart). This will be fixed in the next release (touch wood ). |

Sometimes the Gods of the Forest create these, yes. It has been foretold than many more such things will start appearing as of mid February. |

| I too have had intermittent hopping issues, but mine were random and not related to any events. I was able to resolve them by relogging. |

I don't think either of these are bugs but I wanted to post them - I guess they are more suggestions but they are very much code-related suggestions so it felt right to put them here:
1. Hopping is enabled when standing still and when running but not walking - perhaps that could be changed?
2. Could you provide a feature to allow players to 'lock' the camera at a certain place or provide a few preset lock areas if someone wanted to try them? I find it hard to control my deer when running sometimes if a tree suddenly gets between me and my deer...but if I zoom in then I find myself running towards the camera if I make a turn. I personally would enjoy a lock at a short distance behind and just above the antlers. I can set my camera there but of course it won't 'lock' there. Thoughts? |

Hopping was first introduced as a way to ignore collision detection.
And jumping was originally a completely seperate action that only occured automatically.
We will be re-introducing automatic jumping in the next realease (next to jumping on purpose) as well as adding some kind hopping or jumping in the two walk modes that currently have none. Happy?
There is an checkbox in the Contol Options that allows you to put the camera behind the avatar. Is that what you're looking for? (personally this mode makes me nauseous very quickly)
Another thing that we would like to add at some point, to reduce this problem, is to make the trees between the camera and the avatar somewhat transparent. But there's a technical problem with this that we can't solve ourselves. |

Heh - I'm just happy to enjoy this artistic experience and share it with others, but yeah, and the camera option I'll have to try - I guess I should have looked before I posted..LOL...other than that, I guess making objects between camera and avatar translucent would do the trick (assuming the technical issues get resolved ). Thanks! |

Okay, I tried 'camera behind avatar' and it made me motion-sick as well...but it got me thinking, I remember driving around in my warthog in halo PC and not getting motion sickness, so I found the CD and tried it - it seems their camera waits for a bit before bothering to swivel.
In other words, instead of being hardlocked behind the warthog, it waits for awhile to see if the wart hog is really going to stay turned that way before it follows it around. If you have HaloPC you'll see what I'm talking about...I don't know how else to describe it. |
