I somehow found this site whilst randomly clicking around my usually haunted websites... I don't even remember which one I was linked from (del.icio.us maybe), but it doesn't really matter!
I think this is an amazing project, and I'm quite excited to see it progress and develop.
Speaking of interactive music, however (as I was reading farther back), take a look at this:
http://www.atomless.com/projects/boc/site/
One thing I was thinking, is if we could see our user profile and/or update it in some way?
For example, if we were to need to change our email, or even see/change our symbols?
Along this same line, slightly altering our deer - change hair color, size, antler size, etc. |

Welcome Shaeffer!
If you want to change your email address, just email us and we'll update it manually. This is a small project maintained by humans (and some deer). If we get overrun by requests -unlikely-, we'll automate it but for now we're happy to have personal cotact with everyone playing the game.
We may add a profile page on the website at some point. But we're still in doubt about whether this would be a good thing because we like the current anonimity of the game.
Changing your symbol will never be an option. But you can always create a new account.
Making changes to the appearance of your avatar will be implemented in the next phase. But it will be part of the game, rather than some external configuration tool.
I'll have a look at your music link now, thanks... |

Haha, okay, thanks Michael...
About the music - it's not mine, although I wish I could say it was!
I was in the forest this morning, when the two deer I was with turned into faeries and started doing crazy stuff! Rocks sprouted up and swarms of squirrels appeared from them, and then some blue magical looking walls appeared. It was quite amazing... but for some reason, I couldn't jump/hop anymore, even after they were finished. |

| Boards of Canada, indeed! That site is some of the most amazing interactive flash that I have ever seen. AND cool music. |

| I have a question... does your deer get tired if you hop too much? I hopped around a few times, and then he wouldn't hop anymore. |

The deer isn't programmed to get tired. But maybe it's developing a life of its own... |

I really like the idea of standing on hind legs. Peharps roaring at the same time as well? |

Are you mistaking the deer for a lion? |

think she means the deer-call noise
I love the snow, by the way!
also, what time does the light change. looks pretty in the dark.
I was thinking, while i was plodding around in the snow, footprints would be reasonably easy, and quite effective in the winter-wonderland.
Aswell, i know it may be hard to implement, but in the dusk, deer look a little strange being brightly illuminated whilst under a dark shadow. im not suggesting make the deer practically invisible, but maybe lower the brightness of the skin or something unless under a light source. that one was just an after-thought really . |

There is no automated way for weather or day and night. We, the Twin Gods, Auriea and myself, control this. I think it's going to snow until Christmas. Then the light will return.
Footsteps are a neat suggestion, but harder to implement properly than you suggest (unless you know something I don't...).
The deer's "brightness", on the other hand, is easy to change. We chose to make it well visible at night. We had a system to make it darker when it is in shadow, but it turned out to be incompatible with several videocards so we left it out. We'll probably revisit this at some point. |
