Tomb Raider is series that has been going down with every sequel. Angel of Darkness continues this trend in a spectacular way. Not only did they lose the elegant interface of the first game, the aesthetic quality of models and textures and the delicate use of sound along the way, now Lara Croft has lost her butt! Yes, cyberbabe number one has become buttless. And with her buttocks disappeared her character as well. From a charmingly spoiled rich kid who "only plays for sport", she has now turned into some nagging brat a la Buffy Spears. Guess the times are a-changing.
In my opinion, the most important reason why Tomb Raider 1 was so appealing, was the sexual sounds she made when running into a wall and even when dying. Now, Lara has turned into a grunting and squealing pig. Scary.
And yes, when she dies, she falls down like a sack of patatoes ("ragdoll" in the jargon).
It is very strange, but sadly hardly unique, that the merits of a game's design are not understood. Tomb Raider 1 is still a standard for game design and none of the sequels have been able to top it. Angel of Darkness even succeeds in throwing all the accomplishments away. It is my suspicion that this game has been designed by the sales and marketing department of the publisher. It's very sad to see Lara end up there. And quite unnecessary.
