Hopefully this IS the correct place to mention
this, but if not - please excuse me and I am sorry.

But, I do believe the monthly cost to maintain the
server to the game is 165 euro a month, right?
( least, this is what I've read on a pass around )
Well, if that's what it costs to maintain it, does anyone
have an idea on how much it'll cost for actual updates?

That, and how many users who still actively
play donate and how often, how much?
Sorry for these questions, they are a bit on the more private end...
I am just asking because I am late to joining and it
rather scares me to think that it might just disappear,
or have no future. So I feel that knowing some of the
numbers would actually help in gauging in plans.

As to say, .. I was thinking that maybe enough members
could gather together and do a sort of fundraising if it
became known what it'd take to get updates.../////

Ah, excuse me if this seems like a silly idea...

Edit - Looking into their new project Bientôt l’été, I am left to believe that even if a large sum was donated - their focus is still on their new project rather than TEF.

There is much more activity on the Community Site than there is on here. I know from a topic posted on there by Michael that many members do donate. The TEF server is basically run by us players now. =]

Welcome to the forum, by the way. Though you might not see many people around. Us moderators mostly deal with reporting spam here sadly. |D

Ooohh, Thats good! I suppose I move on over to there as well then uv u
At least it's stay is a bit guaranteed ! I really look forward to the future,
even if no updates happened (because with making OCs and such, you
bring the game to life on your own////) so it'll be really fun.

Yeaah I noticed about it being quiet. x v x
to bad about the spam. u o u You think
with it being so quiet, they wouldn't appear.
but then again they do kind of hit the
smaller communities on purpose.

We are more or less forced to worked on new projects because we don't know how to get funding for The Endless Forest. And while we do want to move ahead as designers, rest assured that if a large chunk of money would fall in our lap, we would ot hesitate to spend it on The Endless Forest!

As it is now, donations barely cover the cost of maintaining the server.

I won't take a vote since there is no option that fits my vote.
I do not pay money because there is nothing to pay money for.. The game itself is free to play, and even though I *could* make a donation because I like the game, that's not gonna bring much and on the long run even make them think it works out this way.

What should NOT happen imho is that ppl start to give monthly donations of which the game needs to depend on, and the game itself still pretending it is free to play although it couldn't run without it's players beign monthly subbed..

So, bottomline: I'd DEFINATELY pay if it was made clear for what.. Some virtual stuff from a cashshop, some bucks per month for some extra technical options (maybe setting up hotkeys for all the buttons like rolling around or interactions with trees and flowers etc).
In any case, the more options you offer with payment the better, it doesn't have to be ruining the gmeplay into a subscription game but creating a reason for people to pay is gonna pull you through on the long run.

I've always said that if I won the lottery (or any large sum of money), I would donate a large chunk of money to ToT.

That said, I'm still waiting on the opportunity to set up a damn Paypal account so I can actually donate properly. Apparently my existing account isn't valid for using it. :/
