You can download a test version of Phase Two of The Endless Forest from the web site's download page (version 2.0 beta 10).
Please keep in mind that this is a beta version and that some things may still be unfinished or broken. The purpose of this release is to hear from you if you encounter any errors, so that we can work towards as stable as possible a final release.

yay!, I have downloaded it and tested, it works perfectly fine. I hope there will be less gray deers now XD.

I am having a few problems.. waaaah! it loaded up, I went in to change display options so it starts in a window. closed the menu, and it stuck on black screen with the sound all static. I waited a bit, then had to shut my puter down and reboot. I could not get out of it any other way.
I will try it again later. I can't wait to see! |

ok, I started it up again. this time it loaded, and in a window. but the sound it all staticky and skps? and I could not walk.
I did get to see a few of the new movement options and I like! I really like how you can roll on your back. I will keep my eyes open for when it is a bit more stable.
this was my first update since 1.5 |

Sorry to hear about your problems.
Since this is a beta-test, could you try the following?
1. Uninstall the launcher, if you use it.
2. Uninstall The Endless Forest screensaver (through the control panel)
3. Remove the folder that contained The Endless Forest
4. Re-install The Endless Forest version 2.0 beta
5. Re-install the launcher as well, if you use it.
And let us know if you still experience the errors.
Switching to windowed mode has always been a bit fishy, so please test if everything runs ok in full screen mode before you try to switch.
If you still get the sound errors, could you try to record a sample for us? |

We have updated the data for the streaming client.
-fixed bug with gravity
-tweaked worship system
-fixed rest time bug (resting took much longer on slow systems)
-improved flower crowns and some button textures
-disabled spellcasting of skin, antlers & mask on non-deer
-added web based "easter egg" pine cone system
We hope to have a screensaver release with these fixes and some more by the end of the weekend.
Please let us know if you experience any errors with this release. |

Another streaming client update only.
We changed the render order in this one to make things look prettier. But please look out for any visual anomalies and let us know if you see something that seems wrong.
Other major changes:
-disabled autoload of files not required for client (hopefully reducing freeze on exit errors)
-refined button graphics
-disabled worshipping for non-deer avatars
-tweaked hollow tree object
-casting flower antlers now gives correct flower type |

A new screensaver release of version 2.0 beta is available from the download page.
This is a final release candidate. Please post any bugs that you may encounter.
Major changes in this release:
-tweaked render order
-made spell cast effect show on other players as well
-fixed moving cursor roation bug on Nvidia cards
-reduced animation update frequency for off screen players (improves performance)
-tweaked spell cast network data transfer |

The streaming data has been updated for testing a new last-minute feature.
Now when you get the white skin after worshipping the Twin Gods, you also get the ability to cast the white skin spell on other deer (convert them to your religion, so to speak). This spell does not disappear after you've cast it but it remains available until the effect of the worshipping wears off.
Please test this new system and let us know if you find problems with it.
(keep in mind that white deer are immune to spell casting)
Other changes:
-screenshot can now be made without ending Rest Mode
-casting spells on moving players is now possible
-tweaked obeserve camera (still not perfect)
-increased radius tree mushroom detection
-changed render order of effects
-tweaked font |

Now I think we're almost ready for the final release of Phase Two.

Just a few changes to the floor textures (they require less memory now) and a prettier Hyacinth crown. Downloadable as screensaver from the website. And also availabable through the stdreaming client.
We're almost there... |
