I take my Shadow of the Colossus pretty seriously. Seriously enough to type the unabbreviated name when using the on-screen keyboard. XD
Enjoy being old enough to vote and buy alcohol, not necessarily in that order. |

I'd take this to PM, but.. PMs are disabled, so off-topicness it is.
It's always nice meeting other Shadow of The Colossus fans, I have to say! And sadly, while I can vote, I am an American and cannot buy or consume alcohol until 21. ;P |

Cruel and unusual! Also now some Australian politicians are pushing for drug and alcohol policies modeled after America.
Aye, I like my Shadow of the Colossus. I even considered a tattoo of the weak spot sigil, if only I could get a decent screen shot of it and get it done in UV reactive ink. |

...Ok, first of all, lets get one thing straight, THINGS GET KILLED, people, AND COLOSSI ARE NEITHER CUTE NOR ARE THEY REAL.
Take a look at the graphics, take a look at the world, its BEAUTIFUL - HOW could one not appreciate the detail of this virtual world? (Ask Michael and Aureia anyday)
People might not like the way the game is repetitive in its gameplay, but it is NOT entirely.
First of all, there are CLEARLY puzzles, and killing colossi is not the only thing to do, for example the map displayed is clouded over, and its thought of as a sidequest to explore the entire BEAUTIFUL landscape until every nook and cranny is searched, here you'll search for prayer shrines that will help you build up the strength to reach the top of the temple and fight the 17th colossi. This will occupy WEEKS of your spare time.
And the story is like a classic Aesop's tale in the way that the twist at the end is ironic and emotional (In fact this game plays as a PREQUEL to Ico, which I felt was COMPARITIVELY weak despite being a very good game).
AND its DIFFERENT. Isn't that a nice word? Different in many respects. |

Some people just don't like that kind of challenge in their entertainment. I personally find boss battles tiresome and boring. And they take me out of the story and the atmosphere by completely destroying the suspension of disbelief and making me aware of the fact that I'm just using a very elaborate interface to filling in a spreadsheet.
I felt the same about the combat in Ico.
What's different, is the tastes of different people. |

| Ick. I hate fog-of-war in games. It's a nice idea and all, but I just find it inconvenient. |

It's different? It looks like inverted zelda dungeons to me.
At least the colossi look like that.
Anyway, I'm not sure about this. I think I'd enjoy exploring it, but Michael's opinion scares me off, especially since I normally agree with him. |

Just remember, opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one, and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.
PS. I love SotC. |

That's just an opinion, Lemming.
And many people respect other people's opinions.
Anyway, Eden, the only real problem I have with Shadow of the Colossus is that it's too hard for me. So if you're better at games than I am, you might very well enjoy it. It is quite pretty and the huge terrain to explore is nice. |

| I think I need it for my collection anyway, so I'll get one of my friends who's good at games like this to beat the hard parts for me. |

| If nothing else, hopefully buying it will encourage producers to give Fumito Ueda (sama) money and artistic control. |

I hear Ueda has pretty much total artistic control on his current project.
He basically had this on Ico and SoTC too, really. Much more than most designers. |
