Yes, it's just the alpha, but even so it's a captivating experience. Looking forward to someday playing with a real human on the other side of the cafe table.

Call it a loose translation Very Happy

Speaking of French translations, I noticed that our dinner companions use "vous" instead of the familiar "tu". Is this normal on a date?

No, this is not normal at all. The French are very big on using formal language appropriately. And transitioning from addressing someone with "vous" to "tu" is an important event in a relationship. At least it used to be.

Marguerite Duras, the writer who inspired Bientôt l'été often used the polite form in conversations between lovers in her novels. So I did too. Its inappropriateness adds a certain strange erotic tension to the conversation.
