After immersing myself for the first time, a number of matters remained with me, but the one that niggled with me the most was that Herodias was able to extinguish your light as you attempt to illuminate her. I had read the play with a group of friends, in the manner of an informal theatre, and I was lucky enough to read for Salome herself. Yet this movement by Herodias sits outside my slight understanding of the piece.
Did this brief moment resonate with anyone else?Would anyone like to discuss it further?
