Hoborg, what is your framerate in the game?
These sound problems could be caused simply because the machine is too slow. We could add lower quality versions of all sounds. Perhaps this would be easier for a slow machine to handle.
But adding these would of course increase the overall size of the application. Perhaps we can make a "low quality sound patch" to try and solve these problems...
But you have been the only one so far with this problem... |

about 12 FPS at 800x600.
It would be silly to make a patch just for me, of course, but adding a low quality version of sounds might make the game perform better for anyone else with a slower system too. |

12 FPS is the absolute minimum. So that should be ok.
We'll look into this performance/sound issue. We do want to improve performance.
Would you be willing to run some tests for us when the time comes? |

| Hoborg, does the game run faster for you when you turn sounds off in the Preferences? |

I never even noticed that before! I thought there was just volume control.
No, it does not make it run any better. |

Hi, the game closes when you hit 'Esc' to reach the Options in the early stage of the game (even if your deer is already up and running).
+ Suggestion: a window/full screen switch key.

We've added ESC to quit at the beginning of the game for Auriea's mother.
Otherwise when you have the game as your screensaver and it kicks in when you don't want it to, you can't quit it until it has fully loaded.
To get to the options, it is always safer to click on the button at the bottom left of the screen. At the beginning of the game, things are loaded while they are being shown (because we don't like loading progress bars much).
In the Display section of the Options screen, there is a checkbox that toggles between full screen and windowed display. Did you find that? Or do you specifically want to switch with the keyboard? And if so, why? |

Hi,
ESC: OK for the ESC, I didn't had the screensaver problem because I don't use it as a screensaver, since it crashes on quitting (known bug).
Display: I like to be able to switch quickly from full screen (better to play, because in the windows mode the blue border is ugly) to windows mode (to check my emails for a minute without leaving the game, for example). The process of going trough the options screen is rather slow just to do this. Besides, it works only from window to full screen; full screen to window gives me a black screen (the mouse is still visible, though).

Thanks for your comments.

Can you tell us your system configuration?
CPU, Graphics board, OS version, RAM and whether it's a desktop or a laptop?
This screensaver-crash-on-exit error only occurs on a small number of systems but when it happens, it does so consistently. We're trying to solve it. So data on systems where the error occurs can be very helpful.

I see. I can imagine that would be quite handy. But given that, as you have noticed, switching between fullscreen and windowed, is not something that our engine does very well, it's probably safer to make it more of a decision. If we can figure out how to make switch actually work well, we'll definitely consider adding a shortcut key for it.
By the way, I don't have a blue border around my window. Are you using Windows XP with its default skinning? Tss... |

256 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD ASUS A7N8X2.0 Deluxe ACPI BIOS Rev 1005 05/14/2003
Enclosure Type: Desktop

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 (Microsoft Corporation) [Display adapter]
- I know, for the switch key, it's easy to ask... "Oh, and a switch key, please".
- Windows XP, default skinning, that's it. I'm only human (and a deer sometimes). But I like to play full screen, anyway.

Thanks!
And stop converting those souls! Give the pagans a chance to erect their idols! ;P |

| Haha. Yeah. Someone suggested to allow for players to convert them back to pagan. Etcetera. Might have been a fun game. But it was too late to implement it. |

| Im watching someone connect... maybe? I just saw a deer appear and it keeps instantly (no animation) going from a standing straight up position to bring stuck in the ground with only his antlers popping up. It's pretty funny actually. its as if he is playing peekaboo. Then occasionally he'll play the animation for sitting down and going to sleep, then he'll dissapear. Then everything starts over again. I have no idea what caused it, but I figure i'd let you know anyway. |
