I purchased The Path a couple of days ago and played it once. Everything ran fine. Now, today, I keep trying to start it and my screen turns black. I get a message that says:

"Attention

113k / 170hz

Frequency is out of Range."

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing changed. What should I do?

I went to C:\Program Files\The Path then I clicked on the userdata folder. I then tried moving the Preferences.cgr file and the SavedGame.cgr file onto my desktop, and then tried starting the game. After I did that all that came up was a white box. Then I put the Preferences.cgr file back in the userdata folder and tried starting the game again, still just a white box. Then I tried putting the SavedGame.cgr file back in the userdata folder, and everything started up PERFECTLY!

So, I think anyone else who is having a similar problem to this might want to try removing the SavedGame.cgr file and then putting it back. If that doesn't work then maybe try doing exactly what I did step by step. One of the things I did MUST have fixed something. Good luck guys. I'll let you know if it stops working again.

Hi,

I've tried your solution but without success Sad ... Do have someone any other ideas how to start the game normally?? I'm seeing only a black screen with a box - "unsupported video mode" from my monitor!!

Do the following, mine had the same issue...

Start once and alt-tab when you get out of range.
Kill the app.
Rename the C:\Program Files\The Path\userdata\Preferences.cgr to something else
Start the app, it should startup in a window.
Rename the preferences file back to its original name
Press escape and select options
Change the resolution to 800x600
Click ok
This may hang at this point.
Kill or exit
Now reopen, mine opened in windowed mode again but i could then change the options to fullscreen. Save and exit
Restart should be in full screen mode.

You may have to fiddle a bit but this is what i did.

Sorry may have made a slight mistake in the above.
I think you need to rename the preferences.
Start it in windowed mode.
Change the res to 800x600
Click ok
The game crashed at this point for me
Kill the app
Rename the file
Rerun
The game now starts minimised but will open into a full screen window when maxised
Now you can change the options and save
I can't get any resolution above 800x600 to work

Thanks for figuring out a workaround. We'll try to include a more convenient method in an update.
