Instructions:

NAVIGATION

There are three ways of navigating the little girl:

1. cursor keys

forward: up key

turn left: left key

turn right: right key

turn 180°: down key

2. point and click to tell the girl to go there

3. push mode:

forward: move the mouse quickly in the direction you want the girl to go

stop: pull the mouse slowly in the opposite direction of the one the girl is walking in

steer: move the mouse to the left and right relative to the direction the girl is moving in

These three system work together. Sometimes one cancels the other.

You can turn push mode on and off by pressing P on the keyboard.

OBJECTS

An object that the little girl can pick up, gets highlighted when you move the cursor over it.

To make her pick it up, click on it.

To make her drop it, double click on the spot where you want her to drop it.

Double click on her to see her close by. When she has an object, she should show it (not implemented yet).

CAMERA

To manipulate the camera, press the SHIFT key or the middle mouse button.

When the SHIFT key or middle mouse button are down, moving the mouse will move the camera.

With SHIFT or middle mouse button down, press the right mouse button the move the camera forward.

Right click to put the camera behind the girl.

Move the camera to the edge of the screen, left and right, to rotate the camera (careful: still a bit funky).

DOORS

To go to another room, move the girl close enough to a door or click on the door to make her go there.

In this prototype, each room only has one door that can be opened. You can tell the difference between open and closed doors by the cursor that you seee when rolling over them.

SPELLS

In the dark room, the Formal Dining Room, you can make the girl cast a telepathy spell on one of the woman next to the table. Click on her to initiate the spell (cursor should change when you roll over the woman).

EXIT

Press Alt-F4 to close the prototype.

TROUBLE

If in trouble, press CTRL-1 to go to the other room automatically.

If that doesn't solve the problem, restart the application.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------evaluation

This application is a prototype. It is by no means a game. It is tool for testing certain vital elements that will later be used in the game.

This is alpha-testing, not beta-testing. The purpose of the test is to evaluate certain design concepts, not to find bugs. We have tried to make the application as bug free as was possible at this point in order for you to be able to do the alpha-test but we know there are still bugs in it.
